I am an experienced designer having worked in the creative field for nearly two decades in health and beauty, business, toys, apparel, nutrition and sports advertising. I have had the opportunity to work in both a small team environment and at larger organizations. Working in these vastly diverse environments have helped me understand all facets of business including marketing, branding, public relations, sales, events and client services.
My career includes package design for children’s toys and food labels, production design for a beauty company providing the highest quality professional haircare, graphic design for sports marketing and media coordination in education, Director of a small local gallery, graphic design for a boutique brand experience agency that produces large scale animal feed packaging, and most recently a local government agency producing visual storytelling through film.
My experience spans packaging, branding and visual design, marketing, layout design, business collateral (logos, brochures, manuals, flyers), signage/banners, visual merchandising displays, advertising (campaigns) and image retouching.
MY STORY
I grew up in Central California, a prime agriculture area. I found myself drawn to graphic design because I love the ability to play with text and imagery to send a message to a target audience. Many of the advertisements I experienced were related to agriculture and it wasn't until I started going to art school that I started seeing more diverse commercial artwork. I started doing design for my family's small business on a lake, as well as a billboard advertisement in high school for suicide prevention and expanded from there. I graduated from the Art Institute of California Orange County in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design.
Package design is my favorite part of Graphic Design. I do not consider myself a 3D artist, but being able to see a product flat before it's assembled is fascinating to me. There are so many different sides and angles to work with. Most of my experience is in the ability to see something 3-dimensionally even though it's a printed piece that doesn't start off that way.
I love the arts and working with my hands on many projects, even outside of my fine arts and design background. I love working on home projects that involve painting or building something.
Most recently I have learned new tools in video filming, production and editing. What is so great is that the key tools I’ve used in still graphics has helped me understand basic lighting and shots that can also be used in the movement of film. What an exciting next venture that I’m eager to explore further.
Visual art, design, and storytelling is something that keeps on shifting and growing from year to year. I would love to help in any way I can. The thing about my story is that it is still a work in progress and being written everyday. What a wonderful time to be creative.
